I can easily sit at my desk for 12 hours straight, getting up only for bio breaks! I used to feel guilty stepping away to jump in the pool. I’ve now realized that my business is better because of it! Not only do we all need breaks to get away from the screens, but the brain-dump process has become vital. So much so, that every afternoon I have a scheduled call with Kate (BBA’s operations manager) to brain-dump the day. It's such a great way to wrap up the day and get everything out of our heads into actionable items.
I recently read a book (it always leads to a book with me, right?) called The Perfect Week Formula by Craig Ballantyne. A running theme in the book is the necessity to take breaks and recharge. He talks about elite athletes and how their downtime between workouts and competitions is vital to let their bodies heal and recharge for the next physical exertion. Well, our brains need that too!
