GLL are grateful for all your nominations. We have short-listed 43 global Lithuanians from all over the world who spare their time and effort for the prosperity of Lithuania. Next stage is the selection process. GLL has invited to the Selection Panel the Laureates of previous seasons Virginijus Šikšnys and Aurelijus Liubinas, Chief Editor at Verslo žinios Rolandas Barysas, Chairman of the World Lithuanian Community in the USA Rimvydas Baltaduonis, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lina Žukauskaitė, Patron of GLL Embassador Gintė Damušytė, Board Member of GLL Mykolas Lepeška and journalist, writer and film-maker Rytis Zemkauskas. The Selection Panel already had the first meeting and will finalize voting process this week.

The project joined by GLL on the occasion of the century - the 100th Anniversary of Restored Independence of Lithuania - and called "Dovana pasauliui - Present to the World" invites to celebrate by sharing our joy and best qualities with the world. On October 11, GLL together with Law firm TRINITI were continuing the 4th season of discussions. We discussed of the topic "State Defence: What Each of Us Could Do?". The panelists of the discussion Vytautas Keršanskas, Auksė Ūsienė, Artūras Jasinskas and Kristijonas Vizbaras concentrated on our civil obligation to take part in state defence, specified the ways of how civils could prepare for military threats. During the discussion we talked about importance of the media, recognition of the fake news and the improvement of public spirit. Here you can find the recording and photos.

Meetings with Change Makers - Dalius Misiūnas
On October 10, GLL launched the new initiative - Meetings with Change Makers. This gathering provides the opportunity for young professionals who came back to start their career in Lithuania (Talents for Lithuania community, Create for Lithuania participants) to meet inspiring community leaders, successful representatives of business organizations and innovators. The guest of the first informal meeting was Dalius Misiūnas, who recently moved from the CEO position at Lietuvos Energija and started a new page of his career as the Vice President for Business Development at SBA Concern.

Congratulations to Invest LT for Work in Lithuania
It is good to see that there appear to be more initiatives aimed at attracting more people from abroad to Lithuania and contribute to its prosperity. We would like to congratulate our partners from Invest Lithuania for successfully launching their new program Work in Lithuania! Talent attraction is key to boost immigration and foreign investments, and GLL is happy to contribute with our program Talentai Lietuvai ("Talent for Lithuania"), which is one of three independent programs included among the Work in Lithuania opportunities. We hope to build something great together!

Professionals of Lithuanian Business Association in Dubai chaired by Povilas Gudžius have a very special week as they will participate in hosting the official visit of 15 Lithuanian companies led by President Dalia Grybauskaitė to UAE which will take place on October 29 - November 2. The prospects of business relations between Lithuania and UAE look appealing - now the annual trade turnover is 25 times higher than in 2004! If you are an attentive shopper, you can spot Lithuanian furniture, bed-clothes or mattresses in the UAE. Profiles of visiting companies range from IT solutions to energy, agriculture, construction projects management to cereal, mineral water, edible oil production. Fingers crossed, B2B meetings go well and we come across more Lithuanian products in the UAE market soon!

Construction industry in Sweden continues to surge, with annual turnover of €24 billion. Last quarter, the appartment construction stats were at the highest level since 1996, but the sector is experiencing major labour shortages. At the same time, warning signs for Sweden’s housing market are becoming more apparent.

In case you were wondering if you have missed our monthly networking event, we can assure that it's not the case! Our 8th networking event "Back in Vilnius" is going to be more special than ever! On that day we want to invite you to two events in one evening.
We will start the evening with of Discussion Club Lietuva³ at Lietuvos nacionalinė Martyno Mažvydo biblioteka. And after the discussion ends, the fun will move to our usual place - Salionas where we will have a chance to carry on with the discussion or just have an informal meet up where we can get to know each other better.
