The Examiner... A First for FIUTC
|
|
Welcome to the Examiner, the first issue of Florida International University Testing Center’s (FIUTC) newsletter. We are excited about being able to share industry news, tips, and other goings on at our nationally certified testing centers. Since the commissioning of the University Testing Center in 1984, its vision has been to support our student population and surrounding communities by providing efficient, professional, and cost-saving testing services. Our mission is well aligned with the institution's. We are dedicated to supporting students’ cost-to-degree, time-to-degree, and time-to-employment.
| The Biscayne Bay Campus of Florida International University as a public institution continues to meet its charge by providing relevant services and access to its neighboring communities. Members of the surrounding communities have long enjoyed our state-of-the-art Library services; exquisite, student-led dining from the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management; a world’s ahead Wellness and Recreation center; and pristine views of the Intracoastal Water-ways to name a few. On Monday, April 17, 2017, BBC as it is fondly known by its neighbors, dedicated one more service that improves the life of the FIU community. Thanks to the efforts of various advocates and collaborators, including a timely technology-fee grant, the University Testing Center has undergone a technological makeover, and convenient relocation. It has opened its doors on the ground floor of the Academic One Building of BBC. More | |
FIUTC... A Nationally Certified Testing Center As of March 13, 2017, our testing locations (MMC & BBC) have joined the ranks of a select few (less than 200 centers) across the United States and Canada, to become nationally certified through the National College Testing Association (NCTA). NCTA is dedicated to the promotion of professionalism, efficiency, and quality in the administration of testing services and programs. Their certification process demands a rigorous self-assessment and detailed review of all policies, practices, and procedures set in place for a given test center. This reflective process leads to improvements which enhance the productivity, efficiency, and functionality within the unit. It is an honor to be counted among such an elite group of nationally recognized testing centers.
Meet Our Team | At FIUTC we are fortunate to have some of the best qualified testing professionals who can be found anywhere in the testing industry. New Partnerships at FIUTC Maintaining a testing environment that is nimble and responsive to the evolving testing needs of both our students and the neighboring south Florida community is a cornerstone of the University Testing Center. As such, FIUTC fosters relationships with a number of leading vendors in the testing and credentialing industry. Our most recent partners include Pearson Vue for the delivery of GMAT exams as well as Prometric/DANTES for the delivery of DSST exams. The nationally recognized DSST program allows students to earn college credit for learning acquired outside the traditional classroom. Similar in scope to the more familiar CLEP program, DSST offers a menu of more than 30 exams in college subject areas such as Business, Social Sciences, Math, Applied Technology, Humanities, and Physical Sciences. FIUTC is proud to have onboarded its most recent partners and look forward to the many benefits afforded our FIU community. For eligible military members, news of this partnership only gets better. FIUTC has negotiated to become a DANTES Fully Funded site which simply means that FIUTC is able to waive the sitting fee for eligible military members and eligible spouses (first attempts only).
