And now for something completely different…

Dear readers,

I’m feeling thoughtful today as I make plans for new books and reflect on the fact that it’s DECEMBER already. Can you believe it? It’s also Hanukkah. Happy Hanukkah to my Jewish family and friends! This year has been so full that time seems to have flown by at 2x speed.

Yet the future is bright where there are fun new stories to read and lovable old characters to meet again. So here’s what I’ve got planned for 2019. It’s going to be another full year—one that I’m very excited about because I’ve been working on these projects for a long time, and my favorite thing in the world is to see them in your hands.

January 2019

First up, The Translocator audiobook releases this January! Produced by Podium Publishing, the audiobook collects all three books of the Translocator series in a single volume and is being narrated by the wonderful Tess Irondale.

We’re about 6 weeks away from audiobook going live (pending review by Audible), and I’ll be able to share the beautiful artwork with you in a couple weeks. Plus, other cool stuff I’m planning for the launch :)

Spring/Summer 2019

Once that settles down, I’ll turn my full attention to The Gunn Files, a new sci-fi mystery series I’ve been working on for over a year. I plan to start publishing it in the Spring/Summer of 2019.

With 2.5 books already written, and 6 planned, this is the longest I’ve ever held onto a project, so I’m very eager to share it with you. The story combines much of what I love about Austin with my fascination with the idea of aliens living among us in secret. It’s very X-Files, very Men in Black, even sort of similar to the TV show Fringe. If that’s your jam, I hope you’ll let me know so I can get an early copy into your hands.

Early feedback from my editors and beta readers have been enthusiastic, so I’m hopeful that this series will become a smash hit.

SFF Book Club

Lastly, I’m pleased to share that the weekly schedule of book recommendations will continue into 2019! I’m recommitting to bringing you the best books I read and find for many years to come.

Though initially launched as an experiment in February 2018, judging by the dozens of comments and emails I’ve received, the weekly book recommendations are a hit. I’ve also learned a ton about what kind of books you like, and improved my own copywriting skills so that the emails are more entertaining and useful than ever.

Finally, when I asked two weeks ago about fantasy books, your positive responses gave me a clear answer. Thank you for that. I’ll definitely be adding fantasy books to the lineup.

So that’s my plan for new books in 2019. Back to your regular programming next week, and then the Translocator book launch shortly after that — so stick around. It’ll be fun.

By the way, no new book recommendation this week, but you can always grab one from the archives if you want to.

Until next time,

Matt aka M.G. Herron
