Celtic Highland Games and Celebration!

Sunday, September 3, 2023

Join the Friends of Kings Gap for a great day celebrating Celtic Culture with music, dance, food trucks, highland games and more!

All activities are free, with the exception of the Highland Games; It is $30 to train and compete. Free to spectators - cheer on our athletes!

HIGHLAND GAMES

Compete in the Caber Toss, Weight for Distance, and Stone Put sports! Training included. $30 to compete. Ages 16+

- 7:30 AM - Highland Games Training with Highland Games Academy

- 9:30 AM - Highland Games Competition with top 3 awards in each event

School is starting and that means it's time to wrap up our summer DIY DiscoverE program! Did you pick up a guide this summer? Contact a participating park to get your prize!

Art in the Park Camp

This summer, our teen campers worked on multimedia art projects for our youth art gallery. You can come enjoy their works at our education building before they move over to the mansion for the fall!

Mansion Art Gallery

The art gallery continues through the fall in our partnership with the Carlisle Arts Learning Center.

Artwork was recently swapped out, featuring new artists in this last installation for the fall. Come out on Sundays from Noon to 4:00 PM to enjoy the gallery!

StoryWalks

Have you visited our StoryWalks this summer yet? You can enjoy a story as you walk along a trail.

One of our summer StoryWalks® is Over and Under the Pond by Kate Messner and Christopher Silas Neal.

Find it along the Watershed Trail; park at the Kings Gap Hollow Day Use Area. Then tell us what you saw over and under our pond at Kings Gap!

Our newest StoryWalk is bilingual with both English and Spanish! On our Nature Trail outside the Education Building, you can find Dalia's Wondrous Hair/El cabello maravilloso de Dalia by Laura Lacamara. Afterwards, complete a butterfly activity on our deck!

Water Tower Restoration

Plans are underway in to improve the tower's water distribution, while restoring its historic look.

You will notice a fenced area around the tower, and a temporary water tank has been installed to continue park operations through this project.

Join our park rangers at the Bosler Memorial Library for this Storytime series. Two options each month.

Join the Friends of Kings Gap in the beautiful Cameron-Masland Mansion for an outstanding evening of entertainment and refreshment. The Steve Rudolf Trio will present jazz at its finest as you enjoy wine, cheese and hors d'oeuvres.

Proceeds benefit Kings Gap Environmental Education Center.

Tickets must be purchased in advance.
