This month we have both International Family Day (15th May) and Brother's Day (24th May). So that got me thinking about how both family and brothers feature in my books.
Leonie believes she has no biological family, or at least not one that cares about her. She's seeking a place to belong - a found family. Only each time she finds one, something happens to destroy it and she's come to the conclusion this will happen every time.
On the other hand, Perry (aka Prospero) has a large family, with five younger brothers, and a host of other relatives. They all have expectations of him; he's found the pressure too much and has run away from them.
Andrew's an orphan, but he's found his place in the world and is utterly settled and content.
As you can imagine, they are all going to find their lives turned upside down before the end of the series as nothing is quite what it seems.
And then there's Gabriel and Eleanor. Their relationship will become clearer in a future book, but if you've read any or all of the series, drop me a line (just hit reply) and tell me what you think it is. I'll let you know if you're right!
