Coaches don’t give advice.
Wrong
I made this mistake.
I would shy away from giving my advice.
In the fear that it would shut down thinking.
But there are many times when giving advice can help.
The problem.
I was bad at giving it.
I had to learn how to give advice.
What worked for me:
- Discover the other person's context first
- Find out what solutions have already been attempted
- Encourage critique of suggestions
- Saying I don’t know
