Dear Scoutng Family and Friends,
As we make our final push for recruitment, we have exciting news to share with you! As you’re aware, it isn’t uncommon for Eagle Scouts to grow up and achieve great things in their careers. One such Scout who has reached the pinnacle of his professional football career has signed on as an official Scouting Ambassador to help spread news of the impact Scouting America can have on men and women – Detroit Lions Running Back David Montgomery!
You see him on Sundays making an impact on the football field. But before he was running through defensive lines and scoring touchdowns at the highest level of the sport, he was earning merit badges. While David was creating a local name for himself on the high school field in Cincinnati, off the field he was developing important life and leadership skills as a member of Boy Scout Troop 772, eventually earning Eagle Scout status.
Did You Know?
- In addition to winning on the field, David also wins in Pinewood Derby. That’s right, in his youth, David Montgomery was a Pinewood Derby champion.
- Out of the more than 135 merit badges, the Fishing Merit Badge was his favorite to earn.
- David Montgomery’s brother, Samuel, is also an Eagle Scout.
We hope you’re excited about this partnership as we are. We believe this partnership is just one more way to help showcase how Scouting can be part of anyone’s childhood journey, regardless of conflicting activities or priorities. Afterall, we know Scouting more than other youth focused activity teaches lifelong skills.
While David will support our October recruitment efforts, we’ll also be leveraging his career – both as an athlete and Eagle Scout – in the months to come.
So that you can involve your local communities, we’re including images of David Montgomery as a Scout you can share.
Note: Scouting America’s agreement is with David, not the NFL or the Detroit Lions, so please do not use licensed marks of those organizations.
