This week’s design lesson
This is a lesson from the Tiny Design Lessons ebook.
Promote more action by reducing distractions
Are you including elements without a purpose? Any that don’t actively move users to take your desired action are just stealing attention, so keep them to a minimum.
Reduce any information unrelated to your offer or goals.
Don’t use slideshows (carousels) – they look nice but reduce action.
Keep animations or auto-playing video/gifs minimal.
Flashing elements should also be avoided or minimised.
I just found this gem yesterday, via this tweet. Same Energy is a visual search engine powered by AI – you can use it to find anything, but it's very handy for finding design inspiration. For example, try searching for "UI".
A simple reminder (from a past design master) that you don't need to create something unique always. You just need to create something of value. The two are not always the same.
Until next week,
Mark
