Hey ,
Yesterday, I was talking to a homeschool mom who said something that made me sad for her:
"I chose this life because I wanted more joy and connection with my kids... but I feel so overwhelmed and unhappy most days and my kids totally know it. One of them said, "so you don't really like doing this with us, right?"
Can you relate?
If homeschooling doesn't feel as peaceful or happy as you hoped—even though you really DO want this life—the majority of moms are with you! (So I've learned behind closed doors, aka the Zoom Room).
After walking with hundreds of homeschool moms through their stresses, their doubts and dreams, I've come to understand something important:
The secret to being a happy homeschool mom has nothing to do with homeschooling really.
It's not about keeping up with your most ambitious homeschool friend or having Pinterest-worthy lesson plans.
The moms who are thriving? They've figured out five core things that create that grounded, deeply content kind of happiness we're all searching for.
Things like:
- Living in alignment with YOUR family's values (not theirs)
- Understanding that you ARE the curriculum—your energy sets the tone
- Choosing connection over perfection (your kids learn most when they feel most loved)
Want to know all five? And more importantly, want to discover how to apply them to YOUR homeschool life?

Here's what I know for sure: happiness doesn't come from finishing your curriculum every year (you might pitch that plan by October anyway).
It comes from choosing to live this homeschool life on purpose—with clarity, connection, and compassion for yourself and your kids.
And part of that purpose? Taking care of the woman behind the homeschool mom role.
Speaking of which...
If you read the post and find yourself thinking, "Yes, I need to prioritize my own well-being, but I don't even know where to start," I have something special for you.
My "Rediscover Yourself Beyond Homeschool Mom" workbook is perfect for those precious morning moments when you want to reconnect with who you are underneath all the lesson plans and laundry.
It's 14 pages of gentle exercises for creativity, self-awareness, and personal growth—designed specifically for busy moms who are craving more balance and "me time."

Because here's the beautiful truth: when you take care of yourself, when you remember who you are beyond your roles, you show up differently for your family. Not as the overwhelmed, exhausted version, but as the grounded, joyful woman you want to be.
Your kids need to see that version of you too.
Go read the full post, and let me know which of the five resonates most with you right now.
Cheering you on in the beautiful mess,
Teresa, your Homeschool Life Coach
ps The workbook makes the perfect companion to your morning coffee—just saying. ☕️ Sometimes the best homeschool investment you can make is in yourself.
