Facilitate Hope in Dance Movement Therapy/Psychotherapy Applying the Wholistic Model of Te Whare Tapa Wha.
Presented by Brigitte Puls
Exposure to current global events can lead clients, and ourselves, into a state of hopelessness, helplessness and despair. In this workshop, we apply the four quadrants of Te Ware Tapa Wha, to accept these often distressing emotional/ embodied states - and also to invite our clients to move - beyond their suffering into states of self-agency, wellness and a sense of meaningfulness – offering them Hope.

Day 2:
Dance Therapy for Wellbeing using SpinPoi
Presented by Lesley Mary Hawkins
Practising as Dance Movement Therapists in Aotearoa in the 21st Century, we need to find ways to be innovative and inclusive, expanding beyond our own comfort zones to reach people and communities in a way not typically considered “Dance Movement Therapy”.
This workshop will introduce you to SpinPoi, and the potential for it to be developed as a healing tool within a DMT-informed framework for a variety of client populations. During the session, Lesley will draw on her work with patients at a medical clinic.

AND
The Living Tree of Connection: Exploring Resourcing & Connecting through Movement
Presented by Sarah Paulino dos Santos
In this workshop, we will explore the themes of Resourcing and Connecting through movement, sound, and body-based exercises. The central activity involves creating a collective "Living Tree," where each participant embodies a part of the tree (roots, trunk, branches, leaves) through repetitive movements and unique sounds. The aim is to foster a sense of interdependence within the group while allowing individuals to tap into their own resources. This experiential approach will deepen the understanding of each person's role within the collective and highlight the importance of every member's contribution to the whole.
