Restorative Yoga at the Fort graphic with Yogi Theo

Namaste ,

The good news is that it's supposed to be +6° on Wednesday morning at 0900 for the 1st of 6 FOGA classes. Finally! (There, I said it so you don't have to.)

In other weather news, it was -53° with the wind chill at Old  Crow Airport in the Yukon (see below), one of the three coldest places on the planet, as I mashed together this week's mail.

FOGA (Fifty + Over YOGA) starts (finally) Wednesday, February 19th at 9 a.m. Yep, that's a morning class. It's based on the six-week-long program for Strength, Balance, Flexibility, and Pain Relief developed by Kimberly Carson and Carol Krucoff at Duke Integrative Medicine/Duke University Medical Center, called "Relax into Yoga for Seniors".

N.B.If you or a FOGI you know are planning to join us for this 6-WEEK series, please complete the waiver form on the websiteor download this PDF, fill it out and bring it with you to class. Thanks! And no, "My downward dog ate my waiver form" is not an exceptable excuse.

RESTORATIVE YOGA continues on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM (please come a few minutes early if you're new to yoga or the Fort Massey family).

Both classes are in the Lower Hall at Fort Massey United Church.

Weirded out?

Weirded out by the idea of attending a Restorative Yoga or FOGA (50+ Yoga) class?

Just call me at 902-220-1495 and we'll talk.

If I don't answer, I'm either in a meeting at one of my real jobs, asleep, or some combination of the two, but I will call you back.

100 Blocks a Day

Tim Urban, from WAIT BUT WHY, wrote a "thinking inside the box" article in 2016 that suggests dividing the 16-17 waking hours we have every day into 10-minute-long blocks.

Most of you spend at least 12 blocks a week getting to and from and practising yoga. Is it worth it?

Tim wonders, "Is 10 minutes of meditation a day important enough to dedicate a block to it?" If your answer is yes, Stephen Proctor teaches Mindfulness in Daily Living from his never-minus-temperatures home in Sydney Australia.
