Domaine de l' Arnesque Plan de Dieu
Domaine de l’Arnesque has been owned and cared for by the Biscarrat family since 1864. Marie Biscarrat and her husband Sebastian Pathier are now the 5th generation in charge. Plan de Dieu is a Côtes du Rhône, a Villages AOC established in 2005, is situated just north of Châteauneuf du Pape. The grapes for this wine come from a 30-acre plot planted 50 years ago. No chemical products are used. Grape bunches are destemmed, and each variety of grape in this blend is fermented separately by native yeasts at low temperatures to preserve the fruit and allow for pure terroir expression.
Easy on the eyes in the glass, Plan de Dieu is dark cherry in color with a nose of fine, ripe fruits. The sexy palate, redolent with lush, black fruit, a touch of smoky chocolate and a suggestion of suede, is balanced with lissome tannins and a lengthy finish.
Pair with roast lamb, beef and pork or with a nice hearty stew like Cassoulet. Try with creamy, strong cheese like Camembert.
Cork ‘n Cap has carried their standard Côtes du Rhône for a while but the importer has run short of supply. While they await shipment, they offered their Plan de Dieu at the price of the standard wine. Regularly $19.99, ON SALE: $14.99 Take an additional 15% off per bottle when you purchase an unmixed case of 12.

A Replenished Stock Of Our Top Selling Wines
Chateau La Castillonne Red, our best selling wooden crate Bordeaux of all time, has a sibling. The red has been known for its consistent quality year in an year out. It is a classic 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that has crowd-pleasing brambly fruit notes, a dryness that lends it self well to pairing with a variety of foods without over powering them, and finishes with firm but gentle tannins.
Chateau La Castillonne White, says “Sauvignon Blanc” on the label but it likely also includes a small amount of Semillon, another important grape from the Bordeaux region responsible for rounding the edges and softening the citrus notes of the predominant grape, giving the resulting wine a luscious structure and mouth-feel.
Try either wine for $10.99 a bottle or grab a wooden crate of 12 bottles for just $108, a savings of almost $2 per bottle. While drier than a typical domestic wine, Bordeaux wines are typically lighter in alcohol and much lower in residual sugar, with minimal chemical adulteration for people who care about such things.
