You'll love our fabulous April magazine which features a collection of great reading by our team of wonderful writers as well as beautifully presented advertising by Bath's best businesses.
This month we visit the restored Caisson Gardens in Combe Hay, finding a stunning landscape that’s rich in wildlife; we profile a new exhibition at Victoria Art Gallery showing an exciting range of Parisian posters from Toulouse-Lautrec and his artist contemporaries celebrating the nightlife and gaiety of the Belle-Epoque; we talk to the founders of Bath Publishing, who had the vision to publish Nick Wallis' Great Post Office Scandal book before the scandal hit the nation; and you can discover the subjects of our new Portrait of Bath image from photographer Joe Short. Plus so much more!
Every month we deliver 15,000 copies door to door, but if you don't get a copy at home then you can pick up a copy at many places around town and from our floor stands at: Waitrose, Sainsbury [Green Park], M&S Foods in Twerton, Tesco in Weston Village, and at The Holburne Museum.

WEEKEND RECIPES | TIME FOR A TREAT

Words by Melissa Blease
Rhubarb Crumble
The season to talk rhubarb is upon us! If it hasn't hit your radar yet, re-introduce yourself to one of the most intrinsic flavours of spring in the UK with this super-simple, classic dessert.
Ingredients (serves 4-6)
225g plain flour 175g chilled butter, cubed 275g golden caster sugar 1 heaped tsp ground ginger (optional) 900g rhubarb, rinsed and trimmed
To serve: thick cream
Method
1. Chop the rhubarb into 2cm chunks, tip into a bowl and add 175g of the sugar. Mix well and set to one side for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 190°C/gas mark 5. Put the flour and butter into a food processor and pulse together until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs, or simply rub the flour and butter together with your fingertips; you want the end result to be a bit clumpy rather than fine and dusty. Add the remaining 100g of sugar (and the ground ginger, if using) and stir to combine.
3. Spread the rhubarb over the base of a suitably-sized, lightly buttered ovenproof dish and sprinkle the topping across the top. Bake for 45–50 minutes or until the rhubarb is tender and the top is golden brown. Serve warm, with cream.

A Descoberta Branco – Casa da Passarella | £14.40
An unoaked blend of Encruzado (mostly) Malvasia Fina and Verdelho that is pale, smoky and mineral on the nose. The searing acidity comes from the Encruzado, which is fleshed out by the Verdelho's slight tropical grapefruit characteristics. This is a bright, elegant and unusual wine.
O Oenólogo Encruzado – Casa da Passarella | £29.50 |
Fresh, bright, citrus aromas on the nose, with a certain stony weight on the palate with minerals and a touch saline on the finish.

Superior Douro Red Magnum – Quinta Do Crasto | £53 |
Magnum. The wine has beautifully perfumed fruit and spice aromas, reminiscent perhaps of Côte Rôtie or even of Château Cos d'Estournel. It's intense and vibrant, with velvety texture and so-subtle oakiness.
