Reminder specific to 206.7 PROOF OF ENTERED TIME in regards to IHSA Meets:
Any rules adopted go into effect 30 days after the HOD, which means the rules would go into effect starting on November 6, 2024. Any girls' conference meets that take place before that date are not covered under this rule. As such, the backstroke and IM times from any unobserved girl’s conference meets may not be used.
Observation of a conference meet must be applied for by emailing Pam for the form. IHSA and/or USA coaches may apply for observation. The completed form needs to be submitted with two (2) USA officials confirmed, to Pam at least 10 days prior to the Conference Meet start date.
Keep in mind: Officials cannot be on deck for USA Swimming and IHSA at the same time. Officials must be at least stroke and turn certified to observe high school meets, they cannot be AO Certified only.
206.7 PROOF OF ENTERED TIME All submitted entry times for relay and individual events at ISI Championship Meets shall be verified. Proof of performance/time shall conform to all rules, regulations, and restrictions of Illinois Swimming, and shall be listed in the official Meet Announcement.
.1 Acceptable Proof-of-Performance/Time is limited to:
A. Verification in SWIMS database;
B. Final results from USA Swimming sanctioned or approved meets and observed swims;
C. Official results for all individual events from any IHSA Conference, Sectional and State Meets.
Summarized rule change: Starting November 6, 2024 unobserved IHSA Conference, Sectional and State meet times will count as proof of time to enter an Illinois Championship meet series. They will NOT be entered in SWIMS and therefore cannot be used for entry into out-of-state meets. Only observed IHSA swims can go into SWIMS, so the importance of getting the high school meets observed doesn't change if coaches want to use those times for meets other than ISI Championship Meets.
