I’m thinking about making a new bumper sticker that reads: “Have slip-bobbers, will fish.”

A week ago, Paul and I took the RV back to Bagby. We were armed (with four perfectly rigged poles) and dangerous—no, wait, that was the terrain since Bagby is part of the McClure Dam and a great deal of water had been allocated to the farmers in the Central Valley since our last visit. Our shore grew, and it definitely tested our rock scrambling skills.

Still, the campground was mostly empty and we got to fish to our hearts’ content. Paul has even started bragging about my casting ability. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we got skunked. Not even a bite. (I’m blaming the bait, not those darling little slip-bobbers.)

Happily, we KNOW people. My nephew, Brad, just returned from Alaska where he fished with his two daughters, Leah and Lindsay. And guess what? They CAUGHT salmon and halibut.

Brad and lovely wife Brenda generously shared with us.

Life is good. (And so is fresh salmon and halibut.)

I was kinda joking. But, wow, some of you are serious over-achievers. I’m so jealous because I honestly haven’t given the holidays a thought—except for wondering what the world will be like in December.
