Congratulations IIE Award Recipient

The Center for International Education is pleased to share that international student Jeanne D’Arc Uwimana was awarded a $2,500 grant by the internationally acclaimed Institute of International Education (IIE). IIE established a COVID-19 Emergency Response fund for international students. Colleges nationwide were allowed to nominate no more than 5 students. IIE received approximately 1,400 nominations and selected Jeanne as one of only a few hundred students to receive support.

Jeanne is from Rwanda and came to Madison College to specialize in Information Technology following the completion of a Masters in Science Engineering. She works as a student assistant in Madison College’s STEM Center. Jeanne has one semester left to complete her associate degree in IT—Web Software Developer during which she has maintained a 4.0 GPA. As a talented and ambitious woman in the STEM fields from Africa, the Center for International Education is thrilled that she has received a grant to support her educational goals.

Tuesdays 6:00-7:15 pm

Join CIE’s Tammy Gibbs for some restorative yoga to help with the quarantine blues!

The class will help us release tension in the body and help us breathe. If you have them, please set up with a mat, blocks (or something similar- a book, water bottle, extra blankets), a bolster (or multiple blanks folded so you have a shape about 2.5 feet long by 1 foot wide by about 6-8 inches high), and a strap/ towel/ or belt. We may also use a chair or a wall (in many cases a couch will also work).

Register in advance for this class here

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
