Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) will hold Tribal consultation on the Tribal Opioid Response (TOR) grant funding methodology. The purpose of the TOR program is to assist in addressing the overdose crisis in Tribal communities by increasing access to treatment of opioid use disorder, and supporting the continuum of prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery support services for opioid use disorder and co-occurring substance use disorders.
Since its inception, the TOR program has been funded using the user population estimates distributed by the Indian Health Services (IHS). SAMHSA is interested in receiving feedback and suggestions for alternate funding methodologies for the TOR program. SAMHSA provided specific questions for feedback, which can be found in the consultation announcement.
SAMHSA will hold the Tribal consultation session on November 9, 2023 at 2:00 pm ET. Interested participants may register here. SAMHSA will accept written Tribal testimony until 5:00 pm ET on November 23, 2023. Written tribal testimony should be submitted by email to otap@samhsa.hhs.gov.
