For Immediate Release
Camp Update
East Hartford, CT, The Connecticut Rivers Council has been affected by the abundance of rainfall and flooding that passed through the area recently. Our properties at Camp Mattatuck in Plymouth, CT and June Norcross Webster Scout Reservation in Ashford, CT were hit particularly hard. Despite these challenges, the camps are ready for our campers this week and throughout the remainder of the summer. Our dedicated staff and volunteers have worked and are continuing to work to ensure a safe and unencumbered summer camp. NBC Connecticut and WFSB - Channel 3 Eyewitness News came out and visited the camps over the past 24 hours to run stories on the damage and cleanup. They can be viewed in the links at the bottom of this press release.
It will take a tremendous amount of work and resources to restore the flooded areas and lost materials. Ultimately, our goal is to make the affected program areas better so countless Scouting generations can enjoy our world class facilities for years to come. A GoFundMe page has been built to support the work that is ongoing. That link can be found by clicking HERE! Thanks for your time and consideration.
Yours in the Community,
Connecticut Rivers Council
