WOCU Workshops with the Casting Society of America (CSA)
Breaking In and Breaking Through: July 14 at 6pm-9pm PT
How do you prepare for an emotionally traumatized character?Learn how Co-Star and Guest Star Dramatic TV material differ for Victims/Villains/Survivors/Grieving Family roles. In the BREAKING IN AND BREAKING THROUGH class, you’ll discover your own unique way into each of them using real audition material. Each class facilitates up to 12 students who will work and up to 50 auditors to observe.
Deconstructing Type: July 17 at 11am PT
It’s so easy to get pigeonholed into a certain type in this business, and to become a victim to play the same role over and over again as a result. When that role mirrors certain societal stereotypes it can feel demoralizing and it can make an actor feel like there is no room to grow. Putting the actor in the driver’s seat, this class is aimed at opening up the sometimes narrow lens of type by giving actors a chance to choose and work on their own material without the threat of being told they’d never be cast in a role like that, and giving casting professionals a chance to see the ways in which their own unconscious bias seeps through into the audition room.
Commercial Audition Technique: July 28 at 6pm-9pm PT
Each class facilitates up to 12 students who will work and up to 50 auditors to observe.
