Legionnaire by Jason Anspach and Nick Cole

Hey ,

We’re so used to seeing Star Wars from the hero’s point of view—the Jedi-in-training, the young tragic hero. Have you ever wondered what life is like from the Stormtrooper’s point of view?

Wonder no more. This week’s book is Legionnaire by Jason Anspach and Nick Cole, a high action adventure, and the stunning first novel in the Galaxy’s Edge universe.

Cole and Anspach offer a brand new epic space opera to rival Star Wars. This first book is about a military engagement on a desert planet—from the perspective of members of the Republic’s elite fighting force, the Legionnaires. Victory Company is sent deep into the heart of rebel territory. These men are far from home, on the edge of the galaxy, with no backup. And then shit really hits the fan.

I originally read this book last summer, and was completely blown away by the high action, intensely thoughtful character development, and incredible realism. I really felt like I was there next to Chhun and Twenties as they’re holding the line against the koobs.

I absolutely adore the book description, so I’m going to include it here as well… (The copywriter in me was stunned when I first read it.)

The Galaxy is a Dumpster Fire

A hot, stinking, dumpster fire. And most days I don’t know if the legionnaires are putting out the flames, or fanning them into an inferno.

A hostile force ambushes Victory Company during a reconnaissance-in-force deep inside enemy territory. Stranded behind enemy lines, a sergeant must lead a band of survivors against merciless insurgents on a deadly alien world somewhere along the galaxy’s edge. With no room for error, the Republic’s elite fighting force must struggle to survive under siege while waiting on a rescue that might never come.

When you think you’ve surrounded the Legion... you’ve just made your last mistake.

And did I mention that this incredible book, with almost 300 5-star reviews, is on sale for just $0.99 cents? If you’re into audio, the first audiobook dropped earlier this week, a single volume that includes Legionnaire and the next book in the series, Galactic Outlaws, for a single credit.

I hope you enjoy Legionnaire. It’s one of the top science fiction books I read last year, and I don’t say that lightly.

See you next week with another SFF book.
