As you knew it is getting closer to that time of year when Stewardship will be talked about. It is important to start this talk now instead of waiting. This letter is about Stewardship and how it relates to us as a church and as individuals.
Stewardship is about our relationship with God and being follower of God means that we must care for OUR church and the community that we live in. Your involvement is important because this church needs you to help flourish, grow and keep going year after year for yourselves and for the future followers of God in our church. We as individuals must be INVOLVED in growing this church. This may include your time preparing communion, the alter, putting the bulletins together, lighting the candles, sharing communion, cleaning the church & center, being on the Church Council, conduct a lay service, teaching Sunday School, tithing to the church, inviting friends and family to church or church related activities or any other talent you may have.
As a follower of God it is your responsibility to take care of and use the blessings that God has given to you. This is to include your time, talents, relationships, passions and money to be shared to support God’s work through the church. As a follower of God you are called to be the body of God in today’s world by doing God’s work and will through these blessings. In order to use the blessing given to you, you must trust God and grow in the faith which includes love and grace.
I would like to end with this with a quote by Kathy Fiscus “Stewardship is a matter of the heart. My stewardship practices are a response to the boundless love God first showed me. It means that I am grateful for all that God has generously entrusted to me. As a faithful steward and child of God, I understand that (the) decisions I make, in all aspects of my life, reveal my priorities. It is a privilege to share time, talents and finances to care for God’s earth and to serve my neighbors. Being a good steward has brought me great joy and has helped me grow spiritually. I am blessed to be a blessing.”
As you know the council President and Treasure will be stepping down as of January 2019 and we are looking for qualified people to step up and take their place. A time and talent survey is on our website, linked below. Please fill the survey out and bring with you to church or mail to Gift of Grace Lutheran Church PO Box 1041 Fernley, NV 89408. Please take a moment to think and pray about stepping forward as the church needs someone like you who can bring your time, talents and your blessings given to you by God to the council, the church and to the congregation.
Blessing of God,
Marcie Vallejo – President
