Happy Holidays!

Today I've got loads of Christmas goodies for you including:

  • Plenty of freebies which can be found in the Buzz Books link below.
  • I'm giving away two signed copies of my novel “A little of Chantelle Rose.”
  • I'll introduce you to the work of three talented authors, all of whom are running promos right now.
  • I'll also share fitness tip nº3 with you, just in time for the holiday season, so that you don't feel too bad about eating a little bit extra, as we all do, over the festive days.

First of all let me tell you about the giveaway I'm running. To be in with a chance of winning a signed paperback of “A little of Chantelle Rose” all you have to do is go to my Facebook author page, by clicking here: Cristina's FB page and like my page. Then comment, under the pinned post, the name of your favourite Christmas film, or leave a Christmas GIF, anything so I know who you are. Sounds easy doesn't it? So what are you waiting for?

Now for fitness tip nº3. If you haven't read tips nº 1 & 2, go back and check them out here:

For those who have followed, by now you should have completed six weeks of my fun and relatively easy, exercise regimen. Pat yourself on the back. Well done!! You thought you couldn't do it, but you have! I hope you're feeling a bit more positive and focused on your long-term goal, because you do have a long-term goal don't you? No? Not to worry, we'll sort that out in a moment.

Now, let's not mess around and get straight into week nº 7 of my fitness programme.

I've got a surprise lined up. Are you ready?

WEEK 7: Take the week off.

What? I hear you say. How am I supposed to get fit if I don't do anything?

And here is the magic of how the body works. I'm not saying stop exercising forever, I'm just saying take a week off. Did you know that your body gets stronger when it's left to recover?
Your muscles grow when you rest.
For example, lifting weights creates tiny tears in your muscles that can only repair during rest. This repair process is what makes your muscles stronger than before. While it's important to work your muscles (hard!) to stimulate muscle-building proteins, it's equally as important to give your body enough time to recover (usually until you're no longer sore).

However, I am going to give you homework to do this week. Remember I just mentioned long-term goals? What's yours? Where would you like to see yourself in five years time? Perhaps your long term goals includes one of the following?

  • Start a family
  • Buy a house
  • Start a business
  • Increase your level of fitness (I hope so!)
  • Lose weight

Have a think about where you would like to see yourself and write yourself a letter. A letter that you can read back to yourself now and again as it will serve to keep you motivated. But more importantly make sure that when you read it back to yourself in five years time, you can shout out “I did it!” (Of course to reach long-term goals you need short-term goals, I'll go into that in one of my next newsletters, but let's just take things step by step. First focus on where you want to go, so that you can then take the little steps necessary to get there).

Are you brave enough to share your letter with me? I'd love to hear from you. In fact, I'd love to be able to share someone's letter in my next newsletter (I'd keep it anonymous of course) but your words could well inspire someone else to make a change...

Another assignment for the week is to spend half an hour, doing something you don't usually have time to do. But something relaxing that will give you peace. Watch a sunrise / sunset, go have a coffee with a friend. Laugh, smile, or cry, whatever it takes to help cleanse yourself from the inside. Find yourself again and be happy with what you find.

*WEEK: 8: Hopefully, after a week off, you'll be looking forward to getting back into your exercise regimen. As you've just had a week off you'll need to take this week a bit easy, so just repeat week: 5:
Walk for 4 minutes and jog for 1 minute. Repeat 4 times. Finish with a 5 minute stretch. (Remember you can find some simple stretches in the link of my last newsletter, just click here: Fitness tip nº2)

*WEEK: 9: (Repeat week: 6): Include a bit more jogging. Do 3 minutes walk, 1 minute jog / 2 minutes walk, 1 minute jog / 1 minute walk, 1 minute jog x 2. Finish with a 5 minute stretch

WEEK: 10: I will cover week 10 through to week 12 in my January newsletter, so keep an eye out for it.

*If you don't feel comfortable jogging, keep to walking, perhaps do 4 minutes normal pace and for 1 minute try and walk a little faster, so that there is a change of pace in the actual walk.
*If you're already quite fit and the above is a bit easy for you, turn the walk time into run time and the run time into walk time. This will make it more intense for those who already do regular exercise.

*This Newsletter isn't intended to substitute informed medical advice. You should not use this information to diagnose or treat a health problem or condition. Always check with your doctor before changing your diet, altering your sleep habits, taking supplements, or starting a new fitness routine.

"A Little of Chantelle Rose" is a fast-paced romantic comedy that will keep the reader in stitches.  Author Cristina Hodgson has an engaging writing style; the dialogue is crisp, the settings are engaging, the plot is perfectly paced.
