Medical Leave for Monthly Pregnancy Check Up - Update 1 (Replies)

Hi HR Professionals,

Do you allow employees to apply advance medical leave for the monthly pregnancy checkup, or you would do time off?

Advanced MC is not in our leave policy. Usually I would advise the staff to make an early appointment or take the last slot of the day so we could let her come in office later or leave earlier, without utilizing her leave, nor increase her MC record. But if her typical visit takes half a day, I would advise her to apply thru annual leave . What complicates matter is when the Doctors increasingly now offers to give medical certificate even though the staff is not unwell. By right our policy states that if you are unwell on your planned leave you cannot convert it to medical leave. However, it is sometimes hard to say no to staff. So I would advise her to not do this frequently as it is against company’s policy and may also affect the team’s morale.

My company gives time off for pregnancy check up. She needs to produce time/out check after her check up.

My company allow employees to take Medical Leave for monthly pregnancy check up as long as they are able to provide us with the original Medical Certificate.
