Compassionate Leave - Update 1 (Replies)
When it comes to compassionate leave, would you grant it as working days or consecutively?
Eg - if policy dictates as 3 days, would it be Friday, Monday and Tuesday or would you grant it as Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Appreciate your sharing.
We grant 3 consecutive working days. In your example, we grant Friday, Monday & Tuesday, assuming Saturday and Sunday are non-working days.
Our policies – for compassionate reasons, paid leave shall be granted for a period of 3 working days at any one time. It would be Friday, Monday & Tuesday.
It's granted as calendar days, not working days. The rationale behind compassionate leave is for grieving and preparation. So, in your example would be Friday to Sunday for 3 calendar days.
For my Company, the compassionate leave is 3 consecutive working days, excluding Saturday, Sunday & public holiday.
We grant base on working days.
It is always consecutive days like you would take annual leave.
In my company, we use working days. We would want to be genuinely compassionate about it so the 1 or 2 days more of rest after the weekend will be very appreciated by the grieving employee.
Our Company take it as 3 working days.
We normally give in terms of workday.
If policy dictates 3 days that means 3 days consequentially.
We state as 3 working days, so is understood to all.
Our company in shipping industry will take it as consecutively days which include Saturday and Sunday.
For us, it's 3 consecutive working days.
We don't work on Sat/Sun, compassionate leave is 3 continuous working days, Friday, Monday & Tuesday.
In our policy, we set it as 3 working days (Consecutive). So if the incident happen on Friday, we will give Friday, Mon & Tuesday. If you policy did not specify it as Working Days, it would also be recommended to give it as per above proposal on good will to allow the employee time to settle both administrative & religious issue. Also time for them to grief with the family.
