Childcare Leave for Foreign Employee - Update 1 (Replies)
Hi HR fellows,
We have a PRC employee whose child is below 7 years old, so rightfully, this employee should be entitled to childcare leave. However, her child is not in Singapore. In such circumstances, would you allow her to use this childcare leave?
Follow MOM guideline on CCL and you know how to handle your situation.
Yes he is still entitled.
We only allow if Child is in Singapore or when Staff is going on home leave.
Employee with non-Singaporean child are entitled to 2 days per year. For my case, their kids lived in Malaysia but we still give it to them because they might need it to visit their kids. It should not matter if they are staying in Singapore or Overseas. Since government do not require supporting documents for these leaves, we can’t control if they really use it for their kids.
The purpose of granting the childcare leave is to allow the parent to spend some time with the child with no reason required for the leave application. However, if the child is not in Singapore which the Company is aware of, this benefit will not be extended to the PRC employee.
She would entitled for 2 days of Child Care Leave.
