Winter in Minnesota

February is a tough month for Minnesotans like me because the cold seems unrelenting in its wrath. We've endured below 0 temperatures for most of the week and there seems to be no end in sight. Naturally, during these cold spells nobody in my household wants to venture out into the tundra and we spend most of our days inside underneath thick fleece blankets with the heat running at full-blast.

We call this our "hygge" time--a Danish concept that means to be cozy and enjoy creature comforts on frigid days and nights. Here in Minnesota, we certainly need all the hygge we can get!

You're probably wondering if all this time spent inside has created opportunities for me to write. I'm sorry to say that I'm going to disappoint on that note.

Even with hygge bringing some positivity to our bold north winter, my family has endured a few rounds of sickness. Stuffy noses, rattling coughs, and even a stomach bug have infested the Adorno household the last couple of months. As you can imagine, enduring a high fever with a sick toddler tends to put writing books on the back burner.

Thankfully, the family is on the mend and I'm ready to continue with my plans for a sci-fi series. To whet your appetite for the new series, I'm endeavoring to write several short stories connected to this new world and I'll publish them on my blog for everyone to enjoy. With any luck, there will be one ready for you before the end of the month--so long as my immune system doesn't fail me again!

That's all the news for now. Please let me know how you are faring this winter and I do hope you're staying warm or live somewhere warmer than here!

warm regards,
