Talent for Lithuania: 275

We are proud to disclose the results of the 4th round of the "Talent for Lithuania" program. Almost 300 applications from bright Lithuanian graduates of 75 different foreign universities were received. All of them are interested in career opportunities in Lithuania. Soon after companies choose their talents, they will become members of the community of participants who already came back. See the talents here.  

After Discussion “Change Management in Public Sector: How to Make it Effective?”

On April 11, the 7th discussion of the season invited panelists and audience to discuss the issues of change management in Lithuania’s public sector. The challenges of leadership, social support and bureaucratic obstacles were analysed. Discussion panel: Aivaras Abromavičius, former Minister of Economy and Trade of Ukraine, Milda Dargužaitė – Chancellor in the Office of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania,  Liudas Jurkonis – lector of VU University, Rytis Juozapavičius – communications and public speaking consultant. GLL Business Advisors: Angela Sinickas Encouraged to Apply


Congratulations to GLL partner Telia Lietuva for winning two international business communication awards! This month GLL Business Advisor and Laureate of Global Lithuanian Awards Angela Sinickas wrote on her LinkedIn “I am so proud I could burst. The first two IABC Gold Quill awards ever for a Lithuanian communicator went to my friend Vija Valentukonyte at "Telia" for her work on merging Lithuania's two largest telecommunications companies”. It was Angela who encouraged "Telia" to apply IABC Gold Quill for their achievements in communicating the merger and once again proved that Lithuanian companies can compete globally.

Meeting with Vice President of Hyperloop One

GLL had an inspiring day spent together with Alan James, Vice President of Hyperloop One, a company which is already testing full-size prototypes in Nevada, has 250+ employees and 160 million USD in investments and wants to connect Europe. Alan and his team was impressed by the amount of enthusiasm he found here in Vilnius. As always, thanks to innovator and GLL Board member Vladas Lašas. More about the event here.

The Idea of Global Lithuania and the Value of Country's Diaspora

GLL director Kotryna Stankute shared her opinion about keeping the talent circulation on a positive side. Spreading the good stories, keeping in touch with diaspora and ensuring the sense of community both locally and globally are just a few of the ways to cope with the challenges of migration. Read her article here

Meeting Regional Change Makers

On April 3, President of Lithuania D. Grybauskaitė together with GLL team paid a cosy visit to vegetable farm in Šalčininkai "Evaldo daržovės", founded and successfully run by nominee of Global Lithuanian Awards Evaldas Masevičius who came back after 6 years spent in UK. At the time, he was a true pioneer in cultivating rare greeneries, now he is one of the biggest vegetable suppliers in Lithuania with vast range of herbs and lettuce. There, the President met a number of global professionals who came back to their native towns and are now running growing businesses. Together, they discussed the pre-conditions for reversed migration trends and how to improve the current situation. See news report here.

Networking Events: Back in Vilnius & Kaunas

GLL connects global Lithuanian professionals around the world and those who came back to live in Lithuania, bringing their international experience and mindset. This April we had 4th networking event for those who moved to Vilnius, as well as the 2nd one in Kaunas! Profound knowledge in finance and UK market has always been in demand. New GLL Business Advisor Olga Jachimovič has it all. Her degree in corporate finance, over ten years of corporate accountancy and entrepreneural experience of personal accounting and advisory services have established an enviable reputation in London for providing insightful and personalised service to clients. She owned accountancy and advisory practice in London from 23 years of age, and it was successfully sold 12 years later. New GLL Business Advisor Chris Levickis

Chris is a representative of Australia known for impressive Lithuanian diaspora numbers. Originally from Melbourne, he has worked in IT Services for 20 years relocating to Sydney, London, Moscow, Atlanta, the past 5 years living in Singapore. Mr. Levickis held various roles at NCR, consumer transactions technology company, including Business Operations Director for UK & Ireland, General Manager of Russia, Continuous Improvement Director for North America. 6th Annual Lithuanian Conference on Economic Research

The Lithuanian Economics Network together with the Bank of Lithuania has initiated the Lithuanian Conference on Economic Research to promote economic research in Lithuania and integrate Lithuania’s economics community into the global academic environment. The 6th Annual Lithuanian Conference on Economic Research is organized in collaboration with Kaunas University of Technology and Global Lithuanian Leaders and will take place on June 27-28, 2017 at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania.
