Serena's Salvation by Crystal Dawn

Serena is a dark Fae princess who is not looking for a guy. Unfortunately, the powers that be have decided that she, and a group of other beings that represent their world, must mate in order to save what makes them special. The thought of being turned human makes her shudder. Her fae attributes are the biggest thing that makes her who she is.

Instead of fighting against it, she gives into the threat and searches out her mate only to find he is a human. He is the second son of a king. At least he has royal blood. The problem is it’s human blood and her people have a law against mating with humans. The punishment? Well it’s only death. She knows she must go to the human world and convince her fated mate to join with her. Then she has to find a way for them both to survive it. No big deal, right? The fates must be laughing at her and enjoying her dilemma.

New Stuff that May Not Even Affect You

Truly. I don't think this will affect you at all, except some of my links will be changing. I'm pulling out of Draft2Digital, an aggretator who I publish through who then distributes my books to places like Nook, iBooks and Kobo. I'll still be using them for preorders, but I'll be pulling out of D2D after the preorder and taking my titles direct to the online retailers.

I'm doing this for two reasons. The first, is I want more of my money. I don't share well, and for an indie (self-published) author, 10% of each sale is a big deal, and I'm only just starting to realize that. As I move my business forward, I need to be able to dive down to the micro level of my book listings and see both the micro and macro levels of the resulting data. I want to be able to tweak different things for each retailer, from having retailer specific links in the back of the books, to having retailer specific promotions.

The second reason I listed above in relation to money: Control. So, if you happen to click a link to Nook, Kobo, or iBooks for one of my books, and get a dead page, please bear with me while I transition and get the dust to settle.

Now for some personal stuff

Why won't you friend me on [social media site]?

I get asked this so often, and it's heartbreaking. The short answer is that Amazon is mean (but they're allowed to be, because I can see where they are coming from, in a way).

The long answer is that Amazon monitors its authors' social media. Especially GoodReads and Facebook. This is why on my personal facebook profile, all those on my friends list are other authors or personal friends, most of whom I know will never read my work, and are there mostly for networking purposes or cheerleaders. I refuse to friend anyone on Goodreads, whether they be friend, foe, or stranger.

So, if you leave a review on one of my books, and you are on my friends list on social media, Amazon sees that almost instantly. What do they do?

  1. They remove your review.
  2. They send me a nasty-gram telling me that having friends and family review my work is against their TOS, and that if it happens again, I could be punished up to and possibly including having my account banned, deleted, and possibly have my royalties seized.

Yeah. It's that big of a deal.

So, if an author rejects your request to become friends on Facebook or any other social media site, don't be too upset with them. They're doing it so that you can exercise your right to leave your honest opinions on books you have bought and read, and so they don't jeopardize their careers by alienating the current biggest player in the e-publishing world.

Most authors have places like Facebook Groups, which are not monitored by Amazon or other retailers where readers like you can interact with your favorite authors without the stress.

You may have noticed if you follow me on social media, that I tend to crosspost a single post across all platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, and Instagram, and on occasion, Tumblr). I do this through a service called Buffer that allows me to do this all at once, so that I have more time to just write.

I mainly focus on Facebook for true social media interactions, and would love to see your lovely face in my group:

There aren't many posts yet because we're just getting started, but feel free to post questions or chat about whatever you want to chat about (but please leave the politics elsewhere, and please keep it a safe place for all of us to enjoy. No hate. <3) I check it at least once a day, but usually every time my phone dings with a new post.

Come say hi!

Obligatory Cat Post for Warm Fuzzies and Good Feelings

You know you want to rub that belly fluff! *Listens to the purrs* Be sure to have your speakers working when you click the video. The purrs are epic. <3 Punks (aka Pumpkin Spice) was a happy kitten because I gave her three strands of shredded cheddar. She's sensitive to dairy, so only three or she'll have a bad tummy.

I hope your week has gone by smoothly. Also, let me know if you like getting deals like these in the newsletter. I found an awesome place that gives me lots of delicious Fantasy and Paranormal Romance to drop in your lap once a week, but I only want to do this if you think it's as awesome as I do.

All the best,
