My Life this Month...

Greetings, all!

I hope your summer has been treating you well. How can it be July already? Perhaps time has flown by for us here because we've spent much of the early summer preparing for our oldest son's wedding to his long-time high school sweetheart. After 6.5 years of dating (and waiting for her to graduate college) they stood before God, friends, and family and committed their lives to each other on June 17th, exactly one week after she graduated from college with a degree in social services. We love her so much and couldn't be happier to welcome her to our family! Our other 3 children were all in the wedding and as I sat through the ceremony I couldn't help but shed a few tears of thankfulness for God's many blessings. The picture, upper left, is of my son and I dancing after the ceremony. Both of us are fairly big introverts and neither of us really wanted to be out on the dance floor in front of everyone. I think we were laughing because we figured we should have chosen a shorter song. (We danced to Don't Blink, by Kenny Chesney. (And I really had to ignore the words to the song while I was out there, or I would have been a blubbering puddle in the middle of the floor. :) )You can listen to the song here, if you'd like.) The picture below is, of course, my son and his beautiful bride.
I wish you all many of life's wonderful blessings! Happy July!

Happy 4th of July Recipe...

What's the 4th without Dessert?

In honor of our country and all things sweet ;), I thought I'd share a super quick and easy (and not TOO unhealthy) dessert that is lovely for a get together on the 4th. (And I know my picture doesn't match the recipe! Sorry about that! I haven't made any yet, so have no pics from home. But isn't this picture purrrty?)

Ingredients:
- 1 Regular size Cool Whip (thawed)
- 1 8oz. Pkg Cream Cheese (softened to room temp.)
- 3 Cups Raspberries
- 3 Cups Blueberries
Clear Plastic Disposable Cups

Mix the thawed Cool Whip and softened Cream Cheese - medium speed for about 2 minutes. Just till mixed and not lumpy. Fill the bottom of each cup with blueberries. Layer on a dollop of Cool Whip mixture. Then a layer of raspberries. Continue until the cups are full. Garnish with a few raspberries and blueberries and a sprig of mint. Chill until ready to serve. Enjoy!

From my Heart...

If I have one prayer

for America, this verse is it. In our world of political discord, harsh words, and refusal to listen to others' points of view, it is so clear that our country needs a prominent return to God's Word.

So my challenge to each of you this month is to make sure you are spending time reading your Bibles. Make sure the church you are attending is preaching the One Truth only found in the pages of Scripture. Because it is through God's Word that we are refreshed, renewed, and made repentant. It's what our country needs. But it has to start in the hearts of individuals. Let's be the start!

God's richest blessings to you, one and all!
