Wonder Women

This weekend I took a break from Christmas preparation and watched Wonder Woman with Gal Gadot. I know, it’s been out forever, but I don’t seem to find much time to watch movies -- too many books to read!

I love a strong female protagonist and it got me thinking of my own heroines. The case is often made that the typical Regency woman didn’t show a lot of strength. Perhaps, although I believe many possessed a strong inner spirit. I will say, though, that I love a heroine who is outside the norm -- a woman who may have stood out, and gone above and beyond what was expected of her.

Some of my heroines are outwardly strong and powerful -- like Eleanor in Quest of Honor. Others, like Isabella in Once Upon a Duke’s Dream, have an inner strength that sets them apart. (On that note -- today is the last day at 99 cents before the book goes up to the regular price of $2.99 tomorrow (Wednesday), so buy now! The link is at the bottom of the email).

Soon I will have another heroine for you to meet, who I hope you will love. You can meet her the first week in January in the next installment of the Searching Hearts series!

I’d love to know your favorite female in character, in one of my books or another you’ve read. Email me back or head on over to my facebook page, where I’ve noted who mine are!

With love,

The Wild Irish Girl

By C.B. Halverson

Audrey Byrnes doesn’t mind playing the wild Irish princess for London’s elite aristocracy—as long as they buy her novels. With her father’s Dublin theater in ruins and her sister’s illness growing worse, she’s the only person who can save her family from the gutter. As much as she enjoys the occasional passing dalliance, being the primary breadwinner of her Irish family means either marrying well or not at all.

Dr. Joseph Moorland knows it’s wrong to dress in disguise to hobnob with London’s high society, but he figures one night would do no harm—until he meets the charming and mysterious novelist, Audrey Byrnes. Too poor to marry, he hides his real identity until an accident reveals the truth, and what started as a mild flirtation turns to an infatuation he cannot deny.

Thrown together by circumstance, Audrey and Joseph find themselves in a tense alliance as they try to crawl their way up from their humble beginnings and into the highest echelons of the ton. But when one of the most formidable political players in London sets his sights on having Audrey for himself, she has to choose between saving her family from charges of treason or losing the man she loves forever.

But this year, the Marchwood Christmas Ball holds extra importance.

His daughter, Lady Audrey, has just turned eighteen, and it is time for her to be introduced into society.

It is Audrey’s first, best, and potentially only chance of securing a husband.

Especially seeing as there are rumours that the Marchwood money is running dry.

But headstrong Lady Audrey is not sure she wants a husband.

She is determined that only someone truly special will take her away from her home.

But with the ball centred around a masquerade theme, everyone is in disguise.

And a handsome stranger threatens to steal Audrey’s heart.

Could he hold the key to her heart?

And when she unmasks him will it be a good, or bad, Christmas Surprise?
