A New Year brings with it a new beginning...

With everyone settling in to the New Year, it is time to reflect on what we have been up to and to get excited about what we have planned for 2018.

As always in January, we have greeted new students and welcomed back our returning students. We hope that all of our new students are enjoying themselves and that everyone is ready to put their heads down for the term ahead!

Bringing everyone together

At Quest we love getting to know our students and parents, this month we had the chance to catch up over canapes at the PD and PD+ networking evenings.

The evening gave the students a chance to practice their networking skills whilst meeting new people. It also enabled their parents to meet with the trainers, staff and alumni of the Quest network, in an informal setting.

Thank you to everyone that attended - we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

A busy start to the year!

Breakin' Escape Rooms challenge

To develop our students' business skills - which include teamwork, problem solving and communication - Quest organised a visit to the Escape Rooms at Highbury and Islington on Thursday 11th January.  This was a great opportunity for the BA’s to get to know their peers, whilst working together and communicating in order to solve clues to enable them to escape from the room.

The principle of the game was simple...  Students were locked in a room with a team of 6 and their goal was to escape within 60 minutes.  Fortunately, all students escaped before the hour was up!

Trip to Houses of Parliament

Remaining informed about current affairs is of vital importance, this is something the PD+ students learnt on their trip to the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday 16th January.

They had the honour of meeting MP Richard Drax (whose own son studied on the BA Programme at Quest). The other activities included a walking tour of the Houses of Parliament followed by observing from the public gallery at the House of Commons. The session was being headed by Philip Anthony Hammond, Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Coats and hampers for the homeless

Every year we encourage our students to plan different charitable events and projects. This month has been no exception!

Well done to our PD students for organising the collection of coats and hampers for the homeless and then arranging to go to the Passage in Victoria to hand them over.  It is great that our Quest students wanted to do something for the community, we are very proud of them.

Support for Action for A-T

We take our hats off to the BA Group of 2017 / 2018 who raised over £2,400 for Action for A-T by having an art exhibition. The event was held at Quest and guests were invited to enjoy a selection of canapés and wine. There was a great atmosphere, great team work and creativity. A big thank you goes to all of the BA parents and friends who supported the event. There is no doubt that the majority of the BA students would be able to go on and organise events in the future.

Next month you can look forward to...

Lloyds of London Trip

On the 13th and 14th of February our Jan BA and PD students are being given the opportunity to visit Lloyds of London. They will learn the ins and outs of the insurance industry.

The trip will include a tour of the building and a presentation by one of the insurance brokers there.

One thing is for sure... there is no better way to understand the industry than to see it in action!

Guest speakers

Over the next few weeks a number of industry professionals will be coming in to speak with our students about the different industries that are available. A special thank you goes to:

  • Industry professionals from Guy Carpenter and DTW1991 Insurance companies
  • Angelo from The Corporate Traveller
  • Ernst & Young
  • Sarah Blackwell

For information about upcoming guest speakers please refer to social media.

Stepping stone to your future career

This month we would like to congratulate the following students who have managed to secure new positions: Augusta Wakeford, Jenna Norman, Francesca Ball, Ellie Schicht, Sophie Ritchie, Isobel Lawlor, Georgia Graham, Harriet McMillan and Emma Sunnucks. We are very proud of all of you and would like to thank you for keeping in touch with us!

To those still looking for their next step, remember both Emma and Alice are always here to support you, even years after leaving Quest.

Feel free to email us or follow our LinkedIn page for all the job opportunities that we have available.

A word from an Alumni:

I regularly hear from the Quest team – especially Emma, and I am confident that when I am ready to look for a new challenge that Quest will be the first people I turn to, as I know they will help me succeed! The best thing about Quest is the aftercare. They act as a family for life and you are always welcomed back through their doors when you need support!

Harriet Mitchell, Alumni, 2013.
