February 2018 Update from Author Lynnette Bonner

My Life this Month...

Starting on Feb. 1st my hubby and I began the Whole30 journey. The older we get the more we are realizing that it's probably time to start paying more attention to what we are eating. This will be a big adjustment for us, as both of us have pretty much been able to eat whatever we wanted for our entire lives -- no allergies or medical issues for either of us, which has been such a blessing. We're just realizing that it's probably time to start paying more attention to that.

Have any of you done Whole30? Any tips for us?

I'm sure sugar withdrawal will be our (okay MY) biggest challenge. My hubby is just a go with the flow, laid back, no stress or fuss kind of a guy. He'll be the one holding me back from the sugar canister. :/  Although this morning I reminded him that he wasn't allowed to have butter as he reached for it to add it to his hard-boiled eggs. (We have a teen daughter in the house, so we can't just rid the house of all the "no-no" foods. :) )

From My Heart...

Since I can't have bread ;) I've been doing a lot of thinking about bread this month. This brought to mind these verses, which remind us that the true and lasting bread that we need is faith in God.

John 6: 25-35.

25 And when they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, “Rabbi, when did You come here?”

26 Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. 27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”

29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

30 Therefore they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

32 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

34 Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”

35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

So as I crave natural bread, I'm reminded to spiritually crave the one and only bread that can satisfy. And that is Jesus Himself. Our world is in desperate need of the life that only comes from Jesus. Have you shared Him with someone recently?
