Heritage Lottery Fund visitors at the Cleveland Pools with some of our supporting team

Thank you for your patience waiting to learn what is happening with the Cleveland Pools. In August we submitted our Stage II bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund, to secure our final £4.1m grant request. We can now reveal that we have had a visit from representatives of the HLF, who spent the day with us going through plans on site and scrutinising our business case.

We felt it went well, although we still have to find £141,000 from a revised fundraising target of £869,000. We do have some promising pledges to help bring it down, and the result of the bid in the New Year could make all the difference. Either way we will be calling upon all our supporters to help us achieve the shortfall. If you wish to help now, please click here to go to our appeal page.

Meanwhile we've been given the charity chalet at the Bath Christmas Market next Sunday, 26th November. From10am – 6pm we’ll be selling merchandise, including this brand new Christmas card – ‘Snowman at the Pools’ – designed by graphic artist Catherine Phelps.

It is available in both packs and singles alongside Catherine’s ever-popular ‘Diving Lady’ posters, our logo’d cloth bags, and quality torch pens. Please spread the word to your family and friends.

All other news is on the website, so do have a browse when you have a moment and we will follow up on this bulletin with a New Year newsletter informing you of our Heritage Lottery Fund bid result.

Here is a short statement from our chairman Ann Dunlop:

"Well, it's been a full-on few months for us and we would not have achieved our goals without the loyal support of our advisors, the unswerving dedication of my co-trustees, and the incredible tenacity of project director Christopher Heath.

"It will be a nail-biting few weeks now whilst we await our fate but whatever happens, on behalf of the Cleveland Pools Trust, I would like to thank you for your support and wish you all the best for Christmas and the New Year.

"Do come and say Hello on 26th November if you can – the charity chalet is easy to find as it’s next to the taxi rank in Orange Grove".
