Chili Recipe

As everyone who tried it loved it (or told me they did, anyway) here is the recipe I used.  You can also google for Instant Pot Wendy's Copycat Chili (link after recipe)

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 large bell pepper, chopped
  • 6 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 package McCormick's Chili Seasoning
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 15 oz can Ranch Style Beans
  • 1 15 oz can dark red kidney beans, drained
  • 1 15 oz can RoTel Original
  • 1 15 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Set your Instant Pot to Saute and vegetable oil and minced garlic to the pot.
  2. Once the pot is hot and oil is simmering, add ground beef.
  3. Once browned, add chopped onion, bell pepper and celery to the beef.
  4. Cook until onion is starting to become translucent, then add McCormick's Chili Seasoning.
  5. Turn the Instant Pot "off" of Saute.
  6. Mix well and add water.
  7. Scrape up any browned bits that have adhered to the bottom of the pot.
  8. Add Ranch Style and kidney beans to the pot and stir.
  9. Then add Rotel, diced tomatoes and tomato sauce ON TOP. Do not stir in.
  10. Then add your Instant Pot lid, make sure vent is set to seal and set your IP to 10 minutes on manual or 10 minutes of high pressure.
  11. Once time is up, let your Instant Pot naturally release.
  12. Once released, open your Instant Pot, stir and enjoy your chili!

Financial Secretary

If you are interested in in the Finacial Secretary’s position please let one of the council members know as Karla Simmons has agreed to stay on until a replacement is found!

Presidents Letter

As the fall season approaches I would like to recap our Summer activities.  In June we held a special graduation prayer and celebration for Noah Van Guilder, Jaycee Kilbride, and Daria Powell.  We had a yard sale and bake sale that made close to $700 for the church.  A big “Thank You” to Kimberley Barney for putting this together and to the Barney Family and the Person Family for their help and those who donated items for the yard sale.  In July we cleaned up the Millennium Park.  In August we had chili dog pot luck and a love offering that made around $200 for Pastor Arnold who took an interim position in the Cayman Island for the remainder of this year.  Twenty Three people attended the Reno Aces game on August 18th and had a great time.

With fall right around the corner the church council will be talking about stewardship.  I’m going to try something different regarding stewardship.  Hopefully it turns out to be good.  I will give the first talk on September 16th.

If you have not turn in your time and talent survey please do so as this will help your council know what you are interested in how to help the church.  Please see the link below to download your survey or pick up at church on any Sunday.  The council is going to have a few council members try out as a way for you to give your offering/tithing to the church.  Iain Leggate is setting up the link for members to use and a link that only the Financial Secretary can see who has given, to add to that person’s yearly offering report and so they can do their end of month reports.   Bob Ely, Sunni Leggate, Alice Person, Sandy Stull and I will be meeting on September 29th at 10am to review the committees as outlined in the Constitution and bi-laws. All are welcome to come and participate in this meeting.  As always please take moment to think and pray about stepping forward as the church needs someone like you who can bring your time, talents and your blessings given to you by God to the council, the church and to the congregation.

Blessing of God,

Marcie Vallejo – President
