How to protect business from becoming involved in tax fraud?

The State Tax Inspectorate published recommendations, which provide some guidelines regarding how to protect business activities from being involved in transactions connected with tax fraud. The recommendations are based on the European Union Court of Justice and Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania case law.

The the taxpayer could have tax risks related to:

  • input VAT deduction;
  • recognition of expenses as deductible for the corporate income tax purposes;
  • applying 0% VAT rate.

Financial incentives to employers hiring people encountering difficulties on the labour market

UAB “Investment and business guarantees” develops the project “Support for employment”.

The essence of this project is that employers, who are going to hire young people from 18 to 29 years old for the first-time (who previously have not been employed under employment contract and have not had civil servant status) or employ people older than 54 years old, who have not worked for the last 6 months, are able to apply to INVEGA for partial compensation of labour costs for employees.

New EU Regulation establishing procedure for blocking debtor’s bank account

From 18 January 2017 new European Union Regulation No 655/2014 (hereinafter – the Regulation) came into force, which established a European Account Preservation Order procedure. The Regulation provided a new, fast and effective procedure for blocking debtor’s accounts in cross-border cases. European Account Preservation Order procedure allows to arrest debtor’s accounts in different Member States, by applying to the Court in the Member State of origin, i.e. if the debtor’s legal address is registered in Lithuania, then the application should be applied to the Lithuanian Court.
